Hours of operation

We are open every Monday from 3-6 p.m. for casual play and questions; every Tuesday from 4-6 p.m. for group classes, and 7-10 p.m. for tournaments; every Wednesday from 1:30-6 p.m. for group classes; and Every Thursday from 4-6 p.m. for group classes. On Fridays we have an instructor on site for private lessons from around 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. We normally hold events almost every Saturday but start times and duration vary, so check the event calendar.

Format: USCF rated tournament for girls age 12 and under. Four rounds of G/15 in swiss format.

Prizes: $30 and trophy for 1st, $20 and medal for 2nd, $10 and medal for 3rd.

USCF: USCF membership required, which can be purchased on-site before the tournament.

Entry fee: $10.

Junior Joust Finals

The Junior Joust Finals for each season will decide who TCC will crown as Junior Joust champion.

Entry fee is $10

Invite only through qualifying as follows:

1. Players accumulate points equal to their score in each event.
2. Players qualify for the finals if they accumulate five or more points.
3. Defending Champion.

Dress code of business casual applies.

4 rounds of G/15 USCF quick rated chess.

Pries: 1st prize is $30 plus trophy and title. 2nd place is $20 and medal. 3rd place is $10 and medal.

Junior club match
Apr 18 @ 11:00 am

Four rounds of rated G/30 games vs. a rival junior club from the San Diego area. It will consist of three quads and be played for a trophy. Our roster has been set and the match will begin at 11 a.m. All participants will be age 14 or under. Event will be continued every three months to renew the friendly competition.

This class develops young students to become better overall players and is intended to prepare them for growth and tournament play. Curriculum covers a wide variety of tools and topics, covering everything from openings and endgames to psychology and tactics.

Classes are every Tuesday and Wednesday.

On Tuesday, Class starts at 4:00 p.m. and ends at 6:00 p.m.

On Wednesday, there are two classes. Class One starts at 1:30 p.m. and ends at 3:30 p.m. Class Two starts at 4:00 p.m. and ends at 6:00 p.m.

Registration is $65 for one student or $100 for two siblings per month. Attend as many classes as you like during the month!

Classic Weekly Chess Tournament

Time Controls: G/45 +5 seconds increment. Games normally last about three hours.

Entry Fee: $20

Prizes: 1st place overall 50% of entry fees; 1st Under 1600 wins 30% of entry fees.

Format: Two rounds will be held on each Tuesday. Round one starts at 7:00 p.m. and round two starts 8:45 p.m. Tournaments last for one month each.

Ratings: Dual rated i.e. standard and quick ratings will be affected.

Players: These events are for adults and kids alike. Players of all levels participate — master to beginner.

Please show up before the start time so we can start the rounds on time!
